Little Gift List: Xmas & more

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 August 2026

We want this to be easy to understand. This page explains, in plain English, what information Little Gift List uses, why we use it, who may process it, and what choices you have.

Privacy at a glance

The short version

We do not sell your data

Little Gift List does not sell personal information and does not currently use advertising SDKs.

Photos are your choice

You only share a photo when you choose one or take one. We do not need unrestricted access to your gallery.

Shopping links are processed only when you ask

Product-reading services receive the retailer link or product information needed to look up the gift. If you use the optional Little Gift List browser extension, it reads product details from the current tab only after you click the extension, then sends the captured product URL, title, displayed price, image, retailer, availability and selected options into Little Gift List. It does not run on every page in the background or collect your general browsing history.

You can delete your account

You can remove gifts and people at any time, or permanently delete your account and linked app data.

Who looks after your information?

Little List Studio is the developer and publisher of Little Gift List and is responsible for the personal information handled through the service.

For privacy questions, email littleliststudo@gmail.com or use the form at the bottom of this page.

What information do we use?

Only the information needed to run the app and the features you choose to use.

  • Your account: your email address, account identifier, the optional two-word private display name you choose during sign-up and, if you use Google sign-in, basic profile information such as your name.
  • Your gift lists: recipient names, optional broad age groups, optional birthday day/month and birth year, Christmas or birthday gift budgets, Birthday party budgets and party costs/payment amounts, gift ideas, prices, retailer links, product details, notes, selected options, purchase dates and spending information you choose to save. After a birthday, you can also choose to save gifts the person received from family or friends, including the gift/product, optional brand or specific version, who gave it and an optional reaction such as loved or liked.
  • AI gift recommendations: when you tap Recommend gifts, or when you have separately and explicitly enabled Three-day Gift Finder and your current Christmas list has had no new gift for 3 days, the app can use a broad age group together with selected gifting clues such as likes, dislikes, sizes, favourite colours or brands, interests, things mentioned, the current Christmas or birthday occasion, previous Christmas and birthday gift names, and the relevant occasion budget. For Birthday recommendations, confirmed gifts previously received from family/friends may also contribute the saved gift name, exact product/model when known, brand/product family, specific variant and optional reaction so the app can avoid the same exact item without treating the whole brand as unsuitable. Giver names are not sent for recommendation generation. If you have optionally entered a birth year, the app may calculate and send only the milestone birthday age when that birthday is a recognised milestone. Find products checks suitable products from approved Awin affiliate programmes first, then may use a shared verified catalogue, DataForSEO and SerpApi when needed. Recipient names, photos, allergies/sensitivities and free-form private notes are deliberately excluded from product discovery.
  • Shared verified product catalogue: when the backend independently verifies a retailer product, we may retain public product facts such as its title, current checked GBP price, retailer, image and direct product URL so that the same verified product can be reused in future recommendations. If somebody saves an already verified product, the catalogue may increase an anonymous aggregate save count. The catalogue does not store who saved it, who it was for, private notes, list contents or household information.
  • Shared gift lists: if you create a family/friends sharing link, we store which recipient and To Buy gifts you selected for that link. A guest may optionally enter a display name when they mark a shared gift as bought; that name is stored with the gift for you to see.
  • Household co-planning: if you choose household planning, we store the email addresses you add as trusted co-planners and make that household's people and gift records available to those signed-in accounts.
  • Information about people on your lists: you may add a friend or family member's name, photo, optional birthday day/month, optional birth year and other gift- or party-planning details. Birthday information is used to organise upcoming birthday gift lists, year-specific Party Planner budgets/costs and related planning features. We use this information only to provide your planning features and, if you enable household planning, to show the shared plan to the trusted co-planners you selected. We do not use it to contact or market to those recipients.
  • Photos and receipts: recipient, gift or receipt images that you deliberately choose or capture. Adding an image is optional.
  • Voice input: when you deliberately use Speak, Android's speech-recognition service processes what you say and returns text to the app. Little Gift List stores only the transcript you choose to save, not a recording of your voice.
  • Device reminders and app lock: notification dates and reminder text can be scheduled locally on your device. If you enable the Android app lock, a salted one-way PIN hash is stored in app-private device storage and biometric checks are handled by Android.
  • App and session information: Base44 may process a generated session ID, your signed-in user ID, pages used, session timing, referrer information and essential network/session details.
  • Privacy messages: the email address and message you send through the privacy contact form.

Your password is handled by the authentication service. Little Gift List does not store your password as readable plain text.

Why do we use it?

  • To run your account: create your account, verify sign-in, keep you signed in and protect access to your data.
  • To provide the app: save and sync Christmas and birthday gift lists, organise upcoming birthdays you choose to enter, calculate separate budgets and spending, show your chosen photos, schedule reminders you enable, support gift history across occasions, and provide shared lists or household co-planning when you deliberately turn those features on.
  • To read shopping links: retrieve product titles, prices, images and options when you ask the app to process a retailer link. If you use the optional browser extension, the same product details can instead be captured from the product page already open in your browser after you deliberately click the extension.
  • To recommend gift ideas: generate optional age-relevant gift concepts and estimated cost ranges from the broad age group, gifting clues, current occasion, cross-occasion gift history and the relevant Christmas or birthday budget when you deliberately tap Recommend gifts. If you have separately enabled Three-day Gift Finder, an hourly Base44 check can also prepare three Christmas ideas after 72 hours without a newly added current-year Christmas gift; empty lists receive a simple reminder and do not call the recommendation model. For Birthdays, confirmed received-gift memory can help avoid the same exact product or version while still allowing different products from a brand or range the person liked. If an optional birth year identifies a recognised milestone birthday, that milestone age can be used to make the ideas more appropriate. Find products checks approved Awin affiliate product feeds first, then may use the shared product cache, verified catalogue and live UK Shopping lookup as fallbacks.
  • To keep the service reliable: detect misuse, troubleshoot faults, understand basic service usage and maintain security.
  • To answer you: respond to support, privacy or data-rights requests.

Who may process information?

We use service providers to run specific parts of the app. They only receive the information needed for that job.

Base44

Provides authentication, app data storage, backend functions and basic app-usage analytics.

Retailers and product-reading services

When you ask us to read a shopping link, the retailer and product-reading services may receive the product URL, page information or product search terms needed for that request. Current services can include Jina AI, Firecrawl, ScrapingBee, Bright Data, DataForSEO, SerpApi, Google Gemini, Browserless, the eBay Browse API and the Etsy API.

Gift recommendation services

When you tap Recommend gifts, Gemini receives the broad age group, gifting clues, current occasion, cross-occasion gift history and relevant occasion budget needed to generate age-relevant concepts and estimated cost ranges. If you have separately enabled Three-day Gift Finder, the same limited recommendation inputs may be sent automatically for one eligible Christmas recipient after 72 hours with no newly added current-year Christmas gift, so three ideas can be ready when the reminder is opened. For Birthday recommendations, confirmed received-gift memory can also include the saved gift/product name, exact model when known, brand/product family, specific variant and optional reaction; giver names are deliberately excluded. If you have entered a birth year and the planned birthday is a recognised milestone, Gemini may also receive that milestone age; the birth year itself is not sent for recommendation generation. For Find products, the backend first checks product-feed data available to our approved Awin affiliate programmes against the generic concept, broad age group and budget guidance. DataForSEO may then receive only a generic concept, broad age-group wording and broad budget band to prepare or refresh the shared UK product cache, and independently verified public retailer product facts may be reused from the shared catalogue. If those sources cannot provide enough suitable fresh results, SerpApi may receive the same generic concept, broad age-group wording and budget guidance to retrieve structured UK Shopping results and direct seller links. Awin results may use tracked affiliate links that earn us commission at no extra cost to you. The recipient's name, photo, allergies/sensitivities and free-form private notes are deliberately excluded from product discovery.

Birthday wrap-up assistant

If you choose Add gifts they received after a birthday, Base44's Superagent service processes only the free text you type for that wrap-up and the birthday year so it can propose a structured list. The app does not automatically add the recipient's profile or recipient name to that request, although names of family or friends may be present if you type them yourself. The assistant may research a distinctive product description to propose an exact official model when there is a strong match. Nothing from the proposal is saved until you review and confirm it.

We do not intentionally send your password, account email or recipient photos to product-reading services.

Photos and camera

You stay in control of when the app receives an image.

Choose photo

Android's system Photo Picker/file picker gives the app only the image or images you select. We do not need continuous or unrestricted access to your gallery.

Take photo

If you choose Take Photo, the app opens the phone's camera capture flow for the photo you requested. It is not used in the background.

Selected or captured images are resized and compressed on your device, then stored with the relevant recipient or gift record. They are removed when that record or the planning space that owns it is deleted.

The app does not request access to your location or contacts. Voice input is optional and starts only when you tap Speak; it launches Android's speech-recognition flow rather than keeping the microphone active in the background.

Voice input, notifications and app lock

These Android features are optional and only run when you choose to use them.

Voice input: Android's speech recognizer may use an on-device or provider-backed speech service depending on your phone. The app receives the resulting text and does not deliberately store the audio recording.

Notifications: if you grant notification permission, Little Gift List schedules local reminders for dates and planning prompts derived from your saved gifts. Android notification permission does not enable background AI. The separate Three-day Gift Finder control explains and records that optional consent, and either choice can be turned off from the app.

PIN and biometrics: the optional Android app PIN is converted into a salted one-way hash and kept in app-private device storage. The PIN itself is not uploaded to Base44. Biometric authentication is performed by Android and the app receives only the success/failure result.

Sharing a gift list with family or friends

This feature is optional and only starts when you create a sharing link.

A shared link can be opened by anyone who has that link, without creating an account. The shared page shows the recipient name and only the gifts you selected, with limited product information such as gift name, image, listed price, retailer and selected product options.

The public shared page does not provide your account details, budgets, remaining budget, private notes, actual prices you paid, delivery/wrapping tracking or the names entered by other buyers.

If a guest marks a gift as bought, the app records that the gift was bought by someone else and may store the optional display name they entered. You can stop sharing or replace the link from the app; replacing the link invalidates the previous one.

Household co-planning

This is different from a family/friends gift link and should only be used with somebody you trust with the whole surprise plan.

The household owner can add another Little Gift List account by email as a trusted co-planner. A co-planner can then see and edit the household's people, recipient memory, gifts, prices, receipts, hiding places and progress information while that access remains active.

Only the household owner can manage the household co-planner list or roll the shared household into a new Christmas year through the app. Removing a co-planner removes their household access from the shared records.

Backup and export

If you choose Backup & export, the app creates a JSON backup or CSV spreadsheet from the planning data you can already access. The file is then handed to your device's save/share flow. You decide where that exported copy is stored or sent, so protect it like any other copy of your Christmas planning data.

How we keep information safe

  • Secure connections: app traffic is sent using HTTPS.
  • Protected account data: personal app data requires authenticated access, except for the limited gift information you deliberately make available through an active private sharing link.
  • Server-side secrets: backend service credentials are kept on the server rather than embedded in the Android app.
  • Storage protection: Base44 provides protection for stored app data and data in transit. The optional Android PIN hash remains in app-private device storage rather than the app database.

How long do we keep information?

Your active gift-planning information, Birthday Party Planner budgets/costs, Birthday wrap-up choices and confirmed received-gift memories stay in the app while you keep them there or maintain your account. You can delete individual gifts, party costs and recipients whenever you like.

When you permanently delete your account, planning spaces that you own are removed, including Christmas and Birthday settings, household gifts created for that owned plan by a trusted co-planner, dismissed gift-memory prompts and stored three-day inactivity suggestions. If you were only a co-planner in somebody else's household, deleting your account removes your access but preserves the other person's household records. Base44 may keep recently deleted data-table records in a recoverable deletion window for up to 30 days before permanent removal.

Privacy enquiries are kept only as long as reasonably needed to answer the request and maintain appropriate privacy/compliance records.

The shared verified product catalogue contains public retailer product facts and anonymous aggregate counts, not a link to the user or recipient who originally encountered or saved the product. Those non-personal catalogue records may therefore remain available to keep product discovery useful even after an individual account is deleted.

Your privacy choices and rights

  • Change your information: you can edit information stored in the app.
  • Delete information: you can remove individual gifts, recipients or your whole account.
  • Optional permissions: you can say no to an optional device permission or revoke it later in your device settings.
  • UK privacy rights: where UK data-protection law applies, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to processing, receive certain information in a portable format, and withdraw consent where consent is the lawful basis.

If you are unhappy with how your information is handled, you can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

A few legal details

This section explains the legal basis and international processing without the jargon-heavy wording.

Why we are allowed to process the data

Under UK data-protection law, we mainly rely on providing the service you asked for (contract), legitimate interests for security/reliability/basic usage understanding, and consent where a feature or the law requires it.

Processing outside the UK

Some infrastructure, authentication, product-processing and AI providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where UK law requires safeguards, we rely on appropriate transfer protections made available for the relevant service.

Automated and AI-assisted processing

Little Gift List may use automated or AI-assisted services to retrieve or reconcile product information from shopping links and to generate optional gift recommendations. Recommendations normally run when you deliberately request them; if you separately enable Three-day Gift Finder, the app may also prepare three Christmas ideas after 72 hours with no new current-year Christmas gift so a planning nudge can take you straight to useful suggestions.

Gift recommendations are based on a broad age group, selected gifting clues, the current Christmas or birthday occasion, previous gift names across both occasions and the relevant occasion budget. The Three-day Gift Finder workflow uses the same privacy-limited inputs, runs only for non-empty Christmas lists and only after the separate Three-day Gift Finder option has been enabled; an empty list receives a simple non-AI reminder. If an optional birth year shows that the planned birthday is a recognised milestone, Gemini may receive only that milestone age to improve the recommendation context. Gemini creates the gift concepts and estimated cost ranges, and child/teen recommendations are constrained to age-relevant versions of a product category. Find products checks approved Awin affiliate product feeds first, then the shared product cache and catalogue of independently verified public retailer products, and may use DataForSEO or SerpApi when suitable fresh results are still unavailable. Product searches and cached results are separated by broad age group and filtered again before display to reduce the risk of adult or older-age variants being shown for children. Awin results may contain tracked affiliate links that earn us commission at no extra cost to you. Saving an already verified product may increase only an anonymous aggregate popularity count; it does not publish the saver, recipient, notes or list. The process deliberately excludes the recipient's name, photo, allergies/sensitivities and free-form private notes from product discovery. Recommendations are suggestions only and are not automatically added or purchased. The retailer page remains the final check for current price, availability and any manufacturer age guidance.

These tools do not make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.

Children

Little Gift List is intended for general Christmas gift-planning use and is not directed to children under 13.
