Christmas Gift List

Data Use Notice

Last updated: 25 August 2026

This notice gives a clear summary of the information Christmas Gift List collects, why it is used and when it is shared with service providers. It supplements the full Privacy Policy.

Account and authentication data

What: email address, account/user identifier, the optional two-word private display name you choose during sign-up and, if you choose Google sign-in, basic profile information returned by Google such as your name.

Why: to create your account, verify your identity, keep you signed in and secure your account.

Processed by: Base44 authentication infrastructure and Google only when you choose Google sign-in.

Gift-planning data

What: recipient names, optional broad age groups, optional birthday day/month and birth year, gift names, Christmas or birthday gift budgets, Birthday party budgets and party costs/payment amounts, prices, purchase amounts and dates, notes, retailer links, product details and selected product options that you choose to save. If you use Birthday wrap-up, this can also include confirmed gifts received from family or friends, the giver name you entered, exact product/model or variant when known, brand/product family and an optional reaction.

Why: to provide the Christmas and birthday gift-planning, party-planning, budgeting, shopping, history and tracking features you ask the app to perform.

Processed by: Base44 for app storage and syncing. Retailer/product extraction providers receive only the product link or product information needed to retrieve product details when you ask the app to process a shopping link. If you use the optional Little Gift List browser extension, the current product page is read only after you click the extension and the captured product URL, title, displayed price, image, retailer, availability and selected options are passed into Little Gift List; the extension does not continuously monitor your browsing.

Shared verified product catalogue

What: when the backend independently verifies a retailer product, the app may keep public product facts such as its title, checked GBP price, retailer, image and direct product URL in a developer-owned catalogue. Saving an already verified product may increase an anonymous aggregate save count.

Why: to reuse trustworthy product information across generic gift recommendations, reduce repeated external searches and favour useful products that are genuinely being saved.

Privacy boundary: the catalogue does not store who saved the product, the recipient, private notes, household/list contents or other personal planning information. User-written content is not published into recommendations.

Birthday wrap-up assistant

What: only when you choose to organise gifts received after a birthday, Base44's Superagent service processes the free text you type and the birthday year to propose a structured list. The app does not automatically add the recipient's profile or recipient name to that request, although names of family or friends may be included if you type them yourself.

Why: to quickly separate gift names, giver names and optional product details into an editable list. A distinctive product description may be researched to propose an exact official product/model only when there is a strong match.

Choice: the assistant runs only when you ask, and its output is a proposal. Nothing is saved as received-gift memory until you review and confirm it.

AI gift recommendations

What: when you tap Recommend gifts, or when you have separately and explicitly enabled Three-day Gift Finder and no new current-year Christmas gift has been added for 72 hours, the app uses a broad age group together with selected gifting clues such as likes, dislikes, sizes, favourite colours or brands, interests and things mentioned, plus the current Christmas or birthday occasion, previous Christmas and birthday gift names, and the relevant occasion budget. For Birthday recommendations, confirmed received-gift memory may also contribute the saved gift/product name, exact model when known, brand/product family, specific variant and optional reaction. Giver names are not sent for recommendation generation. If you entered an optional birth year and the planned birthday is a recognised milestone, only that milestone age may also be used.

Why: to suggest three optional gift concepts, explain why each may fit and give an estimated cost range. For the 3-day Christmas inactivity nudge, the same recommendation logic can prepare three ideas in the background for one eligible recipient; if the Christmas list is empty, no AI recommendation call is made and only a simple start-your-list reminder is prepared. Generic concepts may also be used to prepare a shared UK product cache in the background, and Find products may reuse independently verified public retailer products from the shared catalogue, so later product requests can be faster and cheaper.

Processed by: Google Gemini receives only the gifting information needed to create the concepts, including the broad age group, current occasion, relevant budget and previous gift names across Christmas and birthdays. This can occur either after you request recommendations or, if you have separately enabled Three-day Gift Finder, after 72 hours with no newly added current-year Christmas gift so child and teen ideas can be kept age-appropriate and repeats reduced. For Birthday recommendations, confirmed received-gift product details and optional reaction may also be used to avoid the same exact item while still allowing different products from a brand/range they liked; giver names are excluded. If a recognised milestone birthday applies, Gemini may receive the milestone age; the birth year itself is not sent for recommendation generation. Awin product feeds are checked first for suitable products from approved affiliate programmes; the app matches feed data against the generic gift concept, broad age group and budget guidance. DataForSEO may receive a generic gift concept, broad age-group wording and budget band to prepare or refresh the shared product cache. If Find products still needs a live result, SerpApi may receive that same generic concept, broad age-group wording and budget guidance to retrieve structured UK Shopping results and seller links. The recipient's name, photo, allergies/sensitivities and free-form private notes are deliberately excluded from product discovery.

Choice: recommendations run when you ask, except for the clearly described 3-day Christmas inactivity nudge that runs only while the separate Three-day Gift Finder option is enabled. Generic concepts may then warm the shared product cache in the background, but no product is automatically added or purchased; you choose whether to open Find products, save an idea or save a specific product. Saving an already verified product may update only its anonymous aggregate popularity count in the shared catalogue.

Shared gift lists

What: if you choose to create a family/friends sharing link, the app stores the recipient and the To Buy gifts you selected. The shared page can show that recipient name and limited gift information such as product name, image, listed price, retailer and selected options. A guest may optionally enter a display name when marking a gift as bought.

Why: to let people with your private link see the gifts you chose to share and prevent duplicate purchases by moving a claimed gift to Bought.

Choice: sharing is optional. Anyone who has an active link can open it without an account. You can stop sharing or replace the link; the public page does not provide your budget, private notes, account details, actual paid prices, delivery/wrapping tracking or other buyers' names.

Photos and camera

What: recipient, gift or receipt images that you actively choose with the system Photo Picker/file picker or deliberately capture using a Take Photo feature.

Why: to display the image in your Christmas planning records.

Choice: image use is optional. Gallery selection is limited to the image or images you choose rather than unrestricted library access. If direct camera access is used, the app asks at the point you choose to take a photo and does not use the camera in the background.

Voice input, notifications and app lock

Voice: when you tap Speak, Android's speech-recognition flow processes what you say and returns text to the app. Depending on your device, the Android speech service may process speech on-device or through its configured provider. Christmas Gift List stores the resulting text only when you save it and does not deliberately keep an audio recording.

Notifications: if you grant permission, gift reminders and return deadlines are scheduled locally on your device from information already saved in your list. Android notification permission does not enable background AI; Three-day Gift Finder has a separate disclosure and opt-in.

App lock: if enabled in the Android app, a salted one-way PIN hash is kept in app-private device storage. The PIN is not uploaded to Base44, and biometric checks are performed by Android.

Household co-planning

What: email addresses you explicitly add as trusted co-planners, plus access to the household's people, gift memory, gifts, receipts, prices, hiding places and progress records.

Why: to let two or more signed-in people manage the same Christmas plan.

Choice: this is optional and separate from a public family/friends gift link. The household owner controls the co-planner list in the app.

Backup and export

When you choose Backup & export, the app creates a JSON backup or CSV spreadsheet from planning information you can already access and passes the file to your device's save/share flow. You decide where that copy goes.

App usage and technical data

What: Base44 may process a generated session identifier, your Base44 user identifier when signed in, the app page/path used, session timing/duration, referrer information and essential network/session information.

Why: to operate, secure, diagnose and understand use of the app and its Base44-hosted services.

Advertising: Christmas Gift List does not currently use an advertising SDK and does not sell personal or sensitive user data.

Product-link services

When you choose to process a retailer link, the app may send the retailer URL, page information or product search terms to services used to retrieve or reconcile product details. If you use the optional browser extension, it can instead capture the product facts from the page already open in your browser after you click it; it uses temporary current-tab access rather than an always-on page reader. Independently verified public retailer facts may then be stored in the shared product catalogue without a user/recipient association. For recommendations, Awin product feeds are checked first for products available through approved affiliate programmes. DataForSEO may receive only a generic gift-concept phrase, broad age-group wording and broad budget band to prepare or refresh a shared UK product cache, and SerpApi may receive the same generic search guidance for any remaining live UK Shopping lookup. Current providers can include Awin, Jina AI, Firecrawl, ScrapingBee, Bright Data, DataForSEO, SerpApi, Google Gemini, Browserless, the eBay Browse API and the Etsy API. Awin product links may be affiliate links that earn us commission at no extra cost to you.

The app does not intentionally send your account password, account email or recipient photos to those product-link providers.

Security, retention and deletion

Personal app data is transmitted over HTTPS and is protected by the app's authenticated Base44 storage and backend services. Optional PIN protection is local to the Android installation.

Your active Christmas and birthday planning data is kept while you maintain it in the app or keep your account. You can delete gifts and recipients individually and can permanently request deletion of your account and linked app data.

If you own a household plan, deleting your account removes that owned planning space, including its Christmas and Birthday settings, records a co-planner created inside it, dismissed gift-memory prompts and stored three-day inactivity suggestions. If you are only a co-planner in somebody else's household, deleting your account removes your access while preserving the household owner's records.

Your choices

You choose whether to create an account, use Google sign-in, add photos or receipts, use voice input, enable ordinary phone notifications, separately enable the optional Three-day Gift Finder background-AI feature, or use app lock, enter optional notes, use the Birthday wrap-up assistant and confirm received-gift memories, request AI gift recommendations, send a retailer link for product processing, create a family/friends sharing link, add trusted household co-planners, or export a copy of your data.
